My boys

I love my boys more than anything! They are so much alike and yet still different. I had to take this picture of them last night watching TV. Both have their ankles crossed just the same. Who knows what number 2 will be but with these 2 how can I say I wouldn't be happy with another boy :)

summer weekends

We were finally in town this weekend with no plans really! It was kinda nice to just hang out with no agenda. Friday night Nate and I were able to go on a date! Thanks to Cookie for keeping Whit for us. Saturday morning after our ritual of demetris breakfast whit and I headed to the pool to play with some friends. We haven't been to the pool that much so I didn't know if he was going to remember that he enjoyed it. He did great and even though it was hard to chat and watch him at the same time I still enjoyed my time with friends and their kids!

Saturday afternoon we went to another pool to hang out with some of Nate's friends. Whit amazed me! He just bobbed around without us helping him and then he jumped off the diving board! I was shocked. He would jump to me and go way under and come up with a big grin on his face! I am proud of him and glad we have come so far since the beginning of the summer! Saturday night I got to hang out with my friends just to chat and enjoy not having our babies around. It was a great ending to a good day!
Sunday we just hung out. Nate played golf in the awful heat and Whit and I went to the pool for like an hour. We finished our weekend with pizza with the Caps, Yorks and Cardwells! It was a great way to end the weekend!

Weekend Roundup

This weekend we got to go to the farm with Nates family. We rarely get to see his cousins, grandmother, aunt and uncle so it is so great when we do! I wish life were easier and we got to see them a lot more. Whit was so happy to be back at the farm where he can roam around, watch the cows and most of all ride the mule. He is slightly OBSESSED with the mule and whines when he is not riding. We enjoyed fresh vegetables for dinner, wonderful breezes and the laid back life that only comes when we go to the farm. Nate was able to enjoy his fathers day at his favorite place in the world(and made it home to see the golf )

This weekend we also attended a funeral for Mr. Howell. He and grandaddy Whit were the patriarchs of Clopton. Whit died 20 years ago so Mr Howell has been the man of the town for a long time. I am so thankful that I was able to know him bc he was a special man. He loved little Whit so much and frequently made comments about his great grandfathers legacy he had to live up to. As we stood in the church I thought about how wonderful this small town is. It is such a shame sometimes that the hustle and bustle of life have taken over our society. I loved that they had cookies and lemonade after the service. I loved that Deedee made a pitcher of tea and rode it over in the mule to the Community Center. It was a wonderful celebration of a man who has an incredible legacy. I was so thankful we were able to be there for the funeral.

Happy to be at the farm

First thing in the morning- riding the mule

Helping take the veggies in for dinner

family boat ride

checking out the fish

playing in the water

early morning strolls down the road with mommy

On a completely different note we also found out in April that Whit is going to be a big brother. We are excited about this addition to our family. The Lord has wonderful plans for our family and we are thankful that He has chosed this little gift for us. We are due December 26th. I am not too sure how I feel about a Christmas baby but I do know His plans are perfect so a Christmas baby it is!!!
I am thankful to be over the sickness that the first trimester brought me this pregnancy. I feel like so far it has been completely different than when I was pregnant with Whit. I am hoping it will get more like I was with him bc it was a very easy pregnancy! We cannot wait to find out what this little one is!! Hopefully not too much longer!

Mae Mae's Wedding

We have been so busy with all the hustle and bustle that comes with a family wedding. It is so fun and exciting! I cannot believe one of my little sisters is married! We had a great weekend full of fun and family!
Unfortunately last week I got whit's nasty cold/cough and was feeling terrible! I was just praying that I would feel better by Friday. Thankfully I did and was able to actually enjoy everything!
The weekend started Thursday night with manicures and pedicures for all the girls in the family!

Friday we had the bridesmaids lunch at my aunt and uncles house. It was beautiful! Sharon is such a wonderful entertainer and made is a perfect day!

Our placecards were precious. She used old pictures of MM and made them tiny!

Friday night JD's parents hosted a wonderful rehearsal dinner at Birmingham Country Club. It was a wonderful group of friends and family that came to celebrate JD and Mary Margaret. The food was delicious and toasts were great! Mary Margaret had my mom's wedding dress re-done and it looked beautiful on her!

Saturday morning the girls all went to The Sonnet House bright and early to get ready. It was so fun just to hang out and chat. It was not as nice outside as we were hoping for but everything turned out just fine! The church was beautiful, the reception was beautiful and the bride and groom were happy!
I was a happy momma too bc whit made it down the aisle and he did a wonderful job. All my fears were put to rest :)
I have to say thank you to Nate, Deedee and Jimbo bc I could not have made it through the weekend without them. Nate kept Whit for me so I could enjoy being with my sisters. Deedee and Jimbo kept him for us Friday night and were available all day Saturday and let him spend the night Saturday night. I could not have done it without them! I am so thankful for my family!

What a wonderful weekend for 2 wonderful people! I know they are enjoying Antigua right now!

Accomplishment

I am feeling like a very proud mother right now. My quirky little boy who does not like the beach also does not like the pool. This weekend we tried it out and there were only about 5 minutes of not whining in the pool. Well this was just not ok with me. What child does not like the pool! He loves the bath so we discussed that it was just a big bath but that did not work. He did not like the baby pool or the big pool. So yesterday afternoon I was determined to take him to the pool because in my head the more we went the more he would be used to it. So we got to the pool tried the baby pool again..... nope. Then we went to the big pool and i just sat on the steps and slowly went down one step at a time. he would sit with me and we would move down one. Then all of a sudden he was in the water and he was happy! It was great! He even got brave enough to jump off the side of the pool to me over and over. He just giggled and laughed. Our summer may not be so bad after all! Oh and he even got in the baby pool and loved it on the way out! Now that is a feeling of accomplishment!

Sorry no pictures.... I was in the pool the whole time!

18 months

I don't think I have done one of these posts in a while but I thought 18 months would be a good time to do another one. So here we go:
whit is a mess. he is laughing one minute and mad the next (sometimes at the same time). he is a terrible eater and recently has decided he may only eat a banana or something like that for his meal. then he will eat one good meal every few days. he is not underweight(weighing approximately 27 lbs) so i am not too concerned at this point. he still enjoys his milk so i guess he is getting calories that way. i feel like he is slowing down on his growing right now. he has gotten most of his teeth besides his back molars. he has definitely started to show some "terrible twos" signs. really its just things like pitching a fit when he does not get what he wants or when we tell him no. he loves mommy right now and in his mind i can save the world for him(cute most of the time). he is very OCD about things and has to put everything in its proper place. when he finds something that is fun or something other people think is funny he has to do it a million times in a row. he is funny and we laugh at him all the time just for being himself. we laugh bc he does things and look at each other like where did he come from but oh there are so many times i watch him and i feel as if i am watching nate. he is a pretty laid back and calm child. overall he is so good and we are so lucky.  he is still not really talking. i feel like he has digressed actually. he will not say words that he used to but i guess i will know if i should really be concerned. i would have the child that will not say mommy or daddy but will say lawnmower(actually he wont say that anymore either). he is so cute and so fun and just the way God made him to be. i love this little rascal more than i thought my heart could love. he is one more mess though :)

Lately

We took a quick trip to the beach this weekend with some friends! It was quick but fun. But if anyone would like to offer some traveling tips with toddlers they would be greatly appreciated as crying screaming is not so enjoyable. I am just praying it will get better. The beach was gorgeous and the water was as pretty as I have ever seen it! If only my child actually liked the sand and or the water we would be good. Why oh why can he not just be content on the beach?! We had fun even though Whit didnt :) The pictures below are a little deceiving bc he looks like he is loving it!
Moving on....Sunday night was rough as I thought Whit had pink eye so mom was going to keep him yesterday. Well both Nate and I woke up in the middle of the night with the stomach bug! It was miserable. The worst part was that I could not take Whit to school bc I thought he had pink eye and mom didnt want to watch him bc all we need to do is pass the stomach bug around a few weeks before the wedding! So somehow I managed to go to Publix at 7 am with Whit then to the doctor for his eye. The best news of the day came when she said it was a sinus infection not pink eye. So we left and I threw him at his teachers and walked out the door. So thankfully I got a long nap in before I had to go back to get him. I am pretty sure Nate and I thought we were dying and I think thats the place I would have rather been in. The aches and pains in addition to an upset stomach were enough to push us over the edge. Thankfully this morning the aches were gone so I am hoping we are on our way back to normalcy. Needless to say that was not the way I wanted to start the week.

I would have to end on a bad note so here are some pictures from the beach....
