Round up of Holiday Festivities!

We have been trying to get in as many fun holiday activities as possible before Charlie comes! Whit is loving the lights, blowups, and christmas trees. He is so excited when he sees any and all things Christmas. We have to drive or walk by the house with a yard full of blow ups every day! He loves "chrima yites"! Last week we visited the walk thru nativity with Deedee and Jimbo and he was actually interested and watched everything.
I took him to see Santa this weekend. I was so proud of him bc he just walked right up to Santa and let him pick him up! That is so out of character for Whit but he did so good!!
We went to zoolight safari last night with Cookie, Doc and Kitty and  he loved it! He was quiet bc I think it was soo much to take in. He loved the train ride and talked about it the whole night.
It is so fun to have a little one during the holidays bc they bring such joy to EVERYTHING! We are enjoying our time with Whit for (hopefully) only a little over a week! Love this little man!

Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving with lots of family time and yummy food. We have Thanksgiving with my family on Wednesday night. For some reason thats the best way it works out for everyone so its great! All the sisters were there with spouses in tow. It was so fun to be with everyone for a few hours! I do not have one picture so I will have to get them from someone else that was there! Mom had the house perfect and the food was so good! We also let Whit open his first birthday presents there. He surprisingly loved opening them and did not mind the attention! We gave him a little guitar and he has played with it ever since. The poor childs birthday kinda got overlooked this year since it fell on Thanksgiving. Oh well!

Thursday morning we woke up and headed straight to the farm. We joined Nate's parents at the house and some family friends who were in town from Australia having Thanksgiving with us!  Throughout the day the house filled with tons of family and it was so fun to see people we really only get to see every other year. There were 9 littles running around and it was slightly chaotic until about 8pm. We had such a great time and we look can't wait to spend more time again. It is so fun to see Whit playing with cousins. Nate and I just laugh though bc he is VERY calm and reserved compared to other kids. Its just fun for us to see him with other kids since we are always at work we don't really get to see him in his own element with other kids.
We relaxed for the rest of the weekend just playing, hunting, riding in the mule and walking on the dirt road. It was a great Thanksgiving!

2 yrs old

Whit will be 2 tomorrow!! I think it is finally time to start saying that we are 2 yrs old. No more of this 20 something month nonsense! I cannot belive how much Whit has changed in the past couple of months. He is such a big boy and I am so proud of him. Of course we have our battles but most of the time he is such a good kid. I am so thankful for his sweet, calm spirit. Do not get me wrong he is 100% boy and I love it. I want to remember this time in his life so bad but I know how quickly I will forget as we move to the next stage.

He has all of a sudden started talking so much. I love it. He repeats everything we say and tries really hard to communicate. I love the "conversations" we have and I have absolutely no clue what was said. I can just tell his little mind is going 100 mph! One of his new things that i am not so fond of is that we have started " no, momma" He uses this phrase quite often unfortunately. I quickly remind him that we do not tell momma no :) If you ask him a question he just repeats the question back. He does not understand the whole question and answer idea. Another favorite of mine is that he frequently just looks at you and says "heey." it's always just out of the blue and hilarious!

He still loves all things trucks! Dozers, tiretrucks, brown trucks(UPS), motortytles(motorclycles)  and biii(big) trucks are all a regular topic of conversation. Any car ride consists of many truck conversations. When we go walking we are always on the lookout for any and every interesting vehicle we can find. He loves to make the sounds for them all as well!
He has started to count! Nate and I were so proud when we were reading one night and all of a sudden we realized he was counting to 5. He will count to 10 only leaving out six and eight. Its the little things that make us happy! He will repeat the abc's when I say them out loud. He doesn't really get the order yet but he recognizes what the abc's are. We are working on our colors. This is not so easy for him. We have gotten to where he at least knows colors and when we ask what color something is he always responds with a color but never the right one. We will get there!

He is still extremely OCD and never wants anything out of place. I get notes from school on a regular basis that his teacher says she laughs bc if something is not put back on the shelf properly Whit has to fix it. He always puts his toys back where they came from. If he walks by or sees an open cabinet he has to close it.  Routine is very important to this kid which is why I am a little nervous about when Charlie comes!!

He has had a few random almost "panic-like" attacks at school. He will start crying about something and then just become unconsolable. It usually happens in the late afternoon when I am coming so I also think they come from exhaustion. He does get his feelings hurt easily and if a teacher tells him no or scolds him his bottom lip quivers very quickly. I am kinda glad he is this way so that it makes punishment a little bit easier. I think its going to just be his personality. He kinda has perfectionist tendencies so I think he just gets mad at himself when he gets in trouble. Somehow we have got to learn to shorten these spells bc it is hard to get him out of his breakdowns. His teachers are learning and watching for them. They have learned they have to handle him and discipline him immediately or else he is so upset he cannot remember why he was in trouble!

We are definitely having to use time out and sometimes spankings when he intentionally does something after we say not to. He is for sure worse for me than daddy. So far we have not had too many really bad incidents. I know this will all change as the terrible twos enter our lives!

He is still doing good in his big boy bed. He has not tried to get out in the middle of the night or anything. I am so glad he likes his bed. We love our bedtime routine as I read one book while Whit reads another to himself. He loves saying his prayers and always wants one more kiss from mommy and daddy. One of the sweetest things to me right now is when he says his prayers. For a while we got him to repeat after us but now he can do it on his own. this is Whit's version... "dod. (God) tank tu mommy, tank tu daddy, tank tu chaee(charlie)" and whatever else he wants to add this night. I love it!

He loves music of all kinds! "Itars"(guitars), drums, trumpets and many more are so exciting to him and any time he sees musical instruments he gets extremely excited and starts playing them himself. Nate and I are not musical at all so it makes me laugh that he loves it so much.

He is not really a good eater. I am not sure what to do about this. Sometimes I think he just more hungry than other times but it makes dinner hard. He loves nanas, apples, and yogurt smoothies all the time. I try to give him a protein of some type at dinner but its not always successful. One night he will eat 3 servings of spaghetti and the next he won't take one bite. He usually will eat turkey and hummus. I try to give him leftovers of our food but he rarely will eat them. I wish he was a better eater but I just do not know what else to do! Lately we have been able to bribe him with "choc mulk" for his dessert if he eats his dinner. I know its not the best way but it works for now. He LOVES choc mulk which is so funny bc I give him like 2 tablespoons of choc milk and the rest regular milk but he thinks its like the greatest thing ever!

I love how excited little things can make a child. It is so fun to see the world through the eyes of a child and often I find myself wanting to point something out to whit (even when he is not with me) that I otherwise would never have noticed.

He is such a blessing and a joy to have in our family. We look at each other regularly and wonder what we would do without the joy he has brought to our lives. He makes us smile and laugh all the time. He is a precious gift from the Lord and I hope he knows that we love him more than he can ever comprehend. I pray constantly for his little heart and spirit that he will grow into the man the Lord wants him to be. The past 2 years have been wonderful and I look forward to the years to come with Whit.

PS - sorry no pic! I will have to add some later!

What's been going on

I feel like we have not done much to write a post about but I guess that is a good thing. I enjoy the weekends where we do not have to go somewhere. We did make it to the farm a couple of weekends back and that is always relaxing. I am looking forward to 4 days down there for Thanksgiving. I have had my to-do lists on the weekends to try and get ready for Charlie. We have just under 6 weeks left. I do not feel ready at home but i am definitely physically and mentally ready.
Last week my sweet friends Jill and Caitlin hosted a little sprinkle for Charlie. I felt loved and I am so thankful that the Lord has brought me these friends from church. It was just a small group of my very closest friends and it was perfect. Charlie will now actually have a couple of new things to wear :)
Whit has been cracking us up lately! He is just goofy sometimes and he brings a smile to my face. I am so thankful for him and his sweet little spirit! He will be 2 next week and I cannot believe it!
SO that is all that is going on with us for now. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving with family!

Halloween 2012

We had a great Halloween! My little cow had so much fun! We started the morning in our costume headed to school and he wore his outfit without fussing. This momma helped with his class party so I made some little treat bags and cupcakes. I love seeing Whit at school bc it is his little world and he loves it. Deedee, Cookie and Doc all came over to take our cow trick or treating. I was not sure how Whit would do bc this year he is definitely old enough to be scared of costumes and he is usually shy so I did not think he would walk and get candy. I worried for nothing! He LOVED it!!! He walked up to the houses and would get the piece, put in his bucket, say thank you and come running saying "more nany!" Then he would run to the next house and do the same thing. I was so proud of him! We only had one little incident with a spider that jumped out at you when you walked by. It scared him to death! He lost it but quickly recovered and moved on!! When we got home we had a few trick or treaters of our own and I think he loved putting candy in their bags just as much as he liked getting it. He anxiously awaited the knock on the door! All in all we had a great time and my little cow had a blast!! Did we have some gummies for breakfast.... well of course! (daddy said they were ok though bc they were made with real fruit) Happy Halloween!

Feeling like Fall

The weather finally cooperated and began feeling like fall this weekend! I love the cooler weather! We woke up Saturday morning and just decided to jump in the car and go to the pumpkin patch! We did not have any other plans really so I am glad we decided to go. Whit enjoyed the tractor ride to the patch and loved all the animals! It was chilly but we had fun!!

The Grove

This weekend Nate and I went with my parents to Oxford for the Auburn Ole Miss game. We had such a good time with everyone! My aunt, uncle and cousin came for the fun too! So glad we got to be with MM and JD for a while since we never see them anymore. The game was terrible but we had a great time tailgating in the grove!! Whit was at home with Deedee and Jimbo and I do not think mommy and dada were missed one single bit. He has so much fun with them and was a good boy all weekend. He even slept in a big boy bed at Deedees and never tried to get out. I missed my little buddy a lot though!
We have been going for about a month now and I am ready to be at home on the weekend to get some things ready for this baby that is coming in about 10 weeks!

We came home and went to celebrate Sam's 2nd birthday! The park was a hit and we had fun playing!! Can't believe our boys are 2(or almost)

First Annual Girls Weekend

The first weekend of October is officially now our girls weekend. This year it was 9 girls: 3 pregnant, 6 mommas, and all 9 needing a break from life for 2 days. We missed the ones that could not make it this year but everyone just mark it down for next year! We had a great time! I miss spending time with my friends. I am thankful for each one of them and am lucky to have such a good group of friends. The weather could not have been more perfect. We got some good vitamin D! Dinners out, snacks and yummy deserts! Daddy stayed home with Whit and did such a great job. They had fun together and I appreciate Nate letting me enjoy time away. I came home to a perfectly clean house which made for a very happy momma!

Love each one of these girls!

Loved the sunny weather!

Mountains weekend

We went to Gatlinburg for a quick visit with Nate's family from Knoxville! Unfortunately the trip was too short and we did not get to hang out as much as we would like but its always good to see everyone! The mountains were so pretty and it was nice to feel some cooler mornings!
Whit was pretty good all weekend. He did come down with something Saturday and ran fever the rest of the weekend but he was a sport and thankfully was not too bad. He did sleep very good in his bed last night though!
We stayed in on Saturday watching football so I do not have pictures from the weekend really!

Love seeing the Smokies first thing when you wake up!

Grandmother reading to Whit- thankful he was so good and let her read to him!

These times are so few and I am thankful for Grandmother!

Growing Up....

We had a great weekend! Saturday was a perfect day with our little family. Daddy stayed home all day watching football and I got alot done at home while Whit was giddy to play in his teeshirt and diaper all day with everyone home! I finished painting the nursery and put up some more of Whit's clothes to make room for fall clothes! I was in a baking mood so Whit helped me(ate apples) make an apple crisp and then we grilled out to finish out the games of the day! It was so nice to finish stuff around the house and have daddy home all day. Whit was just silly all afternoon and I think he enjoyed a day at home!
Yesterday was a big day! I decided to just move forward and put Whit in his big boy bed. I had been trying to "plan" too much so I just put all thoughts aside and did it! My parents came over and brought the bed that they had. We were thankful that they had a headboard and mattress for us to use! Whit helped us take down the crib and he told it "bye bye" and we moved it out! Then he helped us bring in his new bed and as soon as we got a sheet down he started jumping and falling down. He seemed totally fine with it all even with the crib in the nursery! Last night we all read books in bed and he went to sleep. This morning he just cried for me like he always does and I went and got him out of the bed. I know this is one night and he will probably starting trying to get out but I must say I was very pleased and so proud of him for moving forward! Oh he is so big!!!

Farmin'

We very much enjoyed our weekend at the farm. It is always a nice change of pace. Nothing new but of course Whit had the best time of all. He rode everything he could find, had more dirt on his face than this momma has ever seen, sweated and loved every minute of it all! And yes we did wear our overalls every day bc what else do you wear at the farm!

Snack time!

Probably the favorite thing of the weekend was the lawnmower
