Memorial Day

We had a great weekend at the farm! It is always so fun to go there bc it is just so relaxing. Whit loved playing with DeeDee and Jimbo.  We got to eat so many yummy fresh vegetables from James Roy. That is always a great part of being at the farm this time of year. Whit was so interested in everything at the farm. He could not even sleep bc he was in a new place. We played inside and outside all weekend. Because it was so hot we had to play in the water! Whit loved this so much. He loves the dogs so he was in heaven with water and dogs!

The farm will be a special place in Whit's life and I know there will be so many fun memories to come!! We can't wait!

6 months

Whit turned 6 months on the 22nd! I can't believe it! He is so big. He loves his voice and makes noise often. Lately he wants your full attention. He will only play if you are watching :) He loves to jump in his jumpy and I swear one day will jump straight out! He rolls around all over the place if you put him on the ground. He sits up and will only topple occasionally.  He loves food. All food. He eats pears, apples, bananas, peas, squash, carrots, sweet potatos, mango and anything else we have! He still eats 32 oz of milk a day and loves it. i really think he would eat all day long if you let him. He is not the best napper. Usually in the mornings from 8:30 til 9 or 9:15. Its a good day if he goes longer. In the afternoon it depends on what we are doing but he really would like to nap in his crib around 12:30 and only for about 30-45 min again. We try everything to get hims to sleep more bc he is always tired like an hour later! He takes a short cat nap at 4 usually. He still loves his baths too! Night time is still annoying bc he wakes up 2 times usually. I have to go in and just put in his paci and pat him. He moves all over the bed throughout the night, tummy to back. He wants to put everything in his mouth. Still no teeth but he wants to eat everything in sight. He is very very busy but gets bored really quickly and must move to a new activity. He laughs a lot and it makes his daddy and I smile every time! 6 months is fun!! He was not cooperating in his pictures so these were the best I have.

*** updated 6/6- I have to come back in and update bc as of 5/31 whit started sleeping back through the night again!! i have a 10 minute rule with crying now and he has never made it to 10 minutes. I think that it was my fault he was still waking up bc i would go in when he would scream out but now i know :) but it could be him changing too bc he takes longer naps too!! usually they last over an hour now! that is amazing! he also eats oatmeal and fruit in the morning, veggie at 11, fruit at 3.

First Real Beach Trip

We had our first trip to the beach with this little one! I say in the title it is the first real bc we went when he was 6 weeks but that doesn't count :) Nate was not able to get off work but I decided to go ahead with Whit.  Nate was really sad to miss the first beach experience but I sent him pictures throughout the day.
Whit and I left Thursday morning at 5:15. I thought this would be my best bet at an easy ride! He did great and we stopped once for breakfast then he really slept the rest of the way! We were at the beach by 11:30.

Ready to take on the beach!

Whit loved the sand. He loves the wind and being outside anyway so this was just the best thing ever in his mind!! Doc has really been waiting 10 years to have someone to play with on the beach again and he was ready to go with Whit! He sat with him and just played in the sand with him. Whit was covered head to toe but it did not bother him one single bit! Doc made a little pool for him to play in and he loved the water too!

We had such a great trip! Thank you Cookie, Doc, Aunt Mae Mae and Aunt Kitty for playing with me at the beach!! We are already excited about the family beach trip later in the summer!!

Worn out at the end of this trip!

Graduation

Everyone at Graduation ( nate was taking the picture)

Over the weekend we made a trip to Oxford, MS to see Aunt Mae Mae graduate! I am so proud of her and I can't wait to watch her be a teacher. MM was lucky enough to have all of the family at graduation. Courtney even flew in for a few hours! Obviously we went for MM but who wants to miss the opportunity to go to Oxford! It is such a great little town and I love it there. Friday night we enjoyed some hotty toddy balls at Volta. It was so a great atmosphere and the food was great!  Saturday morning we enjoyed the graduation ceremony. Lucky for MM the school of Education had their ceremony in the grove, it doesnt get more Ole Miss than that! After we went to the condo and just enjoyed some chicken fingers from Abners. Whit, MM and I went for an afternoon stroll on the square just because it is so enjoyable! We made our way to Como, MS to join JD's family(MM's bf) for dinner at the famous Como steakhouse. This is not your typical steakhouse. It was super casual and literally in the middle of nowhere. I am pretty sure that restaurant is all the town had. It was a good dinner though! Sunday morning we made time to stop at the Inn at Ole Miss for brunch. It is right on campus and was a great way to start the ride back.
Whit did pretty good the whole weekend! He got sick starting Friday night with a terrible cold that we are still trying to fight off. I cannot complain though bc he was a trooper and was great at dinner even though it was past his bedtime!
I cannot blame MM for staying in Oxford another year to work or go to school. It is a great town that we all love! Congrats on grauating aunt mae mae!!

Dedication

My first mothers day was so special. We dedicated Whit to the Lord yesterday! it was a special time and we are thankful for all the friends and family that were there to support us. we had a great weekend and enjoyed the family that came in town. The verse we chose for whit was 1 john 2:14. i pray that he will come to know the Lord at an early age. i also pray for nate and i to be a godly influence on his precious life. what a special time it was! We had a lunch at Cookie and Doc's. Hope

I have really started enjoying writing on this blog and I find myself wanting to not only write things about whit but also write things that i want to remember. so i am writing this today so i can look back years from now to remember my feelings of last weeks events.
wednesday the tornados devastated our state. i have never seen anything like it in my whole life. it is one of the most heartbreaking sights to see on the news. our church was damaged in the storms. we lost a ton of trees and there was some structural damage. so yesterday we had church in the parking lot. i went to church expecting it to be so fun and just heart warming. it was those things but i found myself holding back tears throughtout the whole service. the songs were perfect and tim was absolutely incredible. like i have said before he truely knows how to speak from what the Lord has placed on his heart. He reaches the church and it is a blessing. as we all sat there it was a little warm in the sun but a gentle breeze would come through and it was the Lord. we had hundreds of people in the parking lot, the band on an 18 wheeler, snapped trees in the background but the Lord was there.
I sat there and I was asking myself why not me. Do not get me wrong I am thankful that everyone i know was ok. But I still sit here and think why was my neighborhood spared and why is my whole family ok. There are so many people that have lost all of their worldly possessions and even though they do not matter in the end they matter here now and I cannot even start to imagine starting my life over.
It was a powerful service and Tim just spoke the words that our hope is in the Lord. That is the message he wanted to get out to everyone. We may never know why this house and not mine or why this life and not mine but we do know for certain that if we place our hope in the Lord then it will all be ok.
Sorry that was a long post but I just wanted to remember the service yesterday. It was wonderful and a true picture showing the church. The church is not the building but the people and I have never been more proud to be a part of my church but more importantly the Lords chuch.

not a great picture but kinda captures church yesterday
