First Annual Girls Weekend

The first weekend of October is officially now our girls weekend. This year it was 9 girls: 3 pregnant, 6 mommas, and all 9 needing a break from life for 2 days. We missed the ones that could not make it this year but everyone just mark it down for next year! We had a great time! I miss spending time with my friends. I am thankful for each one of them and am lucky to have such a good group of friends. The weather could not have been more perfect. We got some good vitamin D! Dinners out, snacks and yummy deserts! Daddy stayed home with Whit and did such a great job. They had fun together and I appreciate Nate letting me enjoy time away. I came home to a perfectly clean house which made for a very happy momma!

Love each one of these girls!

Loved the sunny weather!

Mountains weekend

We went to Gatlinburg for a quick visit with Nate's family from Knoxville! Unfortunately the trip was too short and we did not get to hang out as much as we would like but its always good to see everyone! The mountains were so pretty and it was nice to feel some cooler mornings!
Whit was pretty good all weekend. He did come down with something Saturday and ran fever the rest of the weekend but he was a sport and thankfully was not too bad. He did sleep very good in his bed last night though!
We stayed in on Saturday watching football so I do not have pictures from the weekend really!

Love seeing the Smokies first thing when you wake up!

Grandmother reading to Whit- thankful he was so good and let her read to him!

These times are so few and I am thankful for Grandmother!

Growing Up....

We had a great weekend! Saturday was a perfect day with our little family. Daddy stayed home all day watching football and I got alot done at home while Whit was giddy to play in his teeshirt and diaper all day with everyone home! I finished painting the nursery and put up some more of Whit's clothes to make room for fall clothes! I was in a baking mood so Whit helped me(ate apples) make an apple crisp and then we grilled out to finish out the games of the day! It was so nice to finish stuff around the house and have daddy home all day. Whit was just silly all afternoon and I think he enjoyed a day at home!
Yesterday was a big day! I decided to just move forward and put Whit in his big boy bed. I had been trying to "plan" too much so I just put all thoughts aside and did it! My parents came over and brought the bed that they had. We were thankful that they had a headboard and mattress for us to use! Whit helped us take down the crib and he told it "bye bye" and we moved it out! Then he helped us bring in his new bed and as soon as we got a sheet down he started jumping and falling down. He seemed totally fine with it all even with the crib in the nursery! Last night we all read books in bed and he went to sleep. This morning he just cried for me like he always does and I went and got him out of the bed. I know this is one night and he will probably starting trying to get out but I must say I was very pleased and so proud of him for moving forward! Oh he is so big!!!

new bed! I am still "decorating"

Farmin'

We very much enjoyed our weekend at the farm. It is always a nice change of pace. Nothing new but of course Whit had the best time of all. He rode everything he could find, had more dirt on his face than this momma has ever seen, sweated and loved every minute of it all! And yes we did wear our overalls every day bc what else do you wear at the farm!

Snack time!

Driving the mule

Probably the favorite thing of the weekend was the lawnmower

Ready for fall!

I am so ready for fall! I think it is my favorite season. The older I get the more I realize that I really do not enjoy summer. Football to me is the start of fall (even though it is hot for 2 more months) and I am ready to watch some games this weekend! We are off to the farm for the long weekend which could not be any more perfect! Happy Labor Day!

Football Fridays at school are back!

First football Friday last year!

update on life

I feel like I haven't really updated on what Whit is doing lately so I thought now would be a good time. He will be 21 months this week and he is growing up quickly! It is a fun age to watch bc I feel like he is just taking so much in. He is talking a lot more and repeats words that we say often. It is still very difficult to understand what he is telling you especially if you just walk in on the "conversation" but I am able to figure it out most of the time. You know he has never been one to say mama or dada but he is finally learning to call us when we are needed. I love hearing him try to figure out new words and I am glad that he is trying to talk more. His favorite words are firetruck, "mulk" = milk, "naw"=no, "tank tu"= thank you.
He is a pretty good eater. Well I should say he is a really good eater at school but not home. He is hilarious bc he will eat ANYTHING they put in front of him for lunch at school but will not eat much of anything at home. I guess its bc his friends are all eating the same thing. As long as I know he has eaten his good meal for the day at school I am ok with whatever for dinner. Mostly he eats nanas, apples, turkey, yogurt smoothies, peas.
Sleep wise we are about the same. He goes to bed about 7 and wakes up usually between 6-6:30. Its early but I cannot get him to sleep longer. He naps great at school on his mat but at home usually only an hour in the afternoon. On the weekends we usually put him in his bed  mid morning with a book for "rest" time and he will fall asleep quickly.
He is so fun right now. He loves to be outside still but I am not loving this heat so we usually stay in. He would play in the car by himself all the time if I let him. He says bye and that means close the door.
We are definitely seeing the signs of a 2 yr old and I face many battles already. We do put him in time out and I threaten it a lot. He knows what it means I think but still just stays in the corner and cries til I get him out. He does not like when he does not get his way and whines a lot. I know its going to get worse before it gets better. Overall we are at a fun playing age. He is changing so much and getting so big!

I thought I would update on this pregnancy too! I may want to remember it at some point :) This little boy is already obviously the second child as I just go about life like normal. I definitely feel a lot bigger at this point(22 weeks Wed) this go round than with Whit. I have started wearing my maternity pants and some clothes but I am at that in between stage where I am not sure what to wear! I have just started feeling him move more often. This is really about the same time I did with Whit. My babies are just not that "active"
I am still running a few days a week but really its more like putting one foot in front of the other. I have found myself napping on the weekends when Whit is asleep which if you know me then you know that is not normal and I never napped when I was pregnant with Whit.  I think that is just life right now catching up, working full time, keeping up with whit, cleaning, cooking and pregnant :)  Other than that I cannot complain. Thankfully I have had easy pregnancies! We are in the process of making the nursery and getting ready to move Whit into a big boy bed!

Last Day

Yesterday was Whit's last day with his class. I surprised myself with how emotional I was( I will blame pregnancy hormones). As I have said before we have been so blessed with his school. I know we are lucky to be in such a wonderful environment(as the waiting list is years long) but I never realized how much I would come to appreciate and love it so much! He had 2 great teachers and 7 precious friends. This class was filled with some hardship this year as Ms. Cindy lost her father earlier in the year. When familar faces are gone it throws these little ones off but they all did surprisingly well! Then just a few weeks ago Ms.Lisa lost her son in a horrible car accident. We have grieved with her through this loss and the babies have missed her so much. But we have had such a great year. As we were all at the party yesterday we were all tearing up thinking about how much our babies had grown through this year.
When I dropped him off the first day I left enough bottles for him to have milk every 4 hrs. I left a few jars of baby food to try and size 3 diapers! He could not walk, could not say a word and was still napping in the crib at least 2 times a day. Today when I went to the party he was napping on his cot, all 8 kids were sitting in chairs at a table eating fruit, cupcakes and drinking out of their sippy cups! They all jibber jabber back and forth with each other and walk around the room doing their own thing. It amazes me!
Ms Cindy gave us all a picture album with pictures of our child throughout the year. That is when all the moms lost it! We dropped off our babies and we are taking our toddlers home. We start in our new class on Monday. I am glad to know that all 7 of his friends will be close by and some in his same class. I cannot wait to see how he grows this year and all the wonderful things he will learn.
My heart changed throughout the year in regards to "daycare" and now I cannot imagine what Whit would be like without the routine, the fellowship, the learning, the playing and the loving that he received this year. Thank you Lord for this wonderful year we have had!

One of the first days I picked him up(he had messed his clothes up and I thought this shirt was too funny)
